Abstract

An ink-transfer coating composition (see Division D2) comprises a chlorinated rubber, an organic solvent and a plasticizer therefor, a pigment and/or dyestuff and a carrier therefor in sufficient amount that colouring matter is expressed under pressure from the coating formed from the composition. Chlorinated rubber includes chlorinated synthetic rubber and rubbers derived from chlorine-containing monomers. Suitable plasticizers are chlorinated wax and polypropylene adipate. Suitable carriers include animal and vegetable oils (except castor oil), liquid fatty acids and fatty alcohols. Grinding aids, e.g. fatty acid amides, and non-solvents, e.g. isopropyl alcohol, may also be present.ALSO:A pressure sensitive transfer medium of the type wherein the colouring material is expressed under pressure from the coating composition comprises a flexible backing and as the coating composition, a composition comprising a chlorinated rubber, a solvent and a plasticiser therefor, a dye and/or pigment and a carrier therefor. The term chlorinated rubber includes chlorinated synthetic rubber and rubbers derived from chlorine-containing monomers. Suitable plasticisers are chlorinated paraffin wax and polypropylene adipate. The solvent exemplified is ethylacetate. Suitable carriers include animal and vegetable oils (except castor oil), liquid fatty acids and liquid fatty alcohols. Grinding aids, e.g. fatty acid amides, and non-solvents, e.g. isopropyl alcohol, may also be present.
