Abstract
1,062,100. Lubricating. DAIKIN KOGYO CO. Ltd. April 7, 1964 [April 12, 1963], No. 14342/64. Heading F2A. In a lubricating system, a flow-reversing valve-assembly comprises cylindrical cavities a, b, c containing a main shuttle-valve or plunger 1, a pilot shuttle-valve or plunger 2 for controlling the motion of the valve 1, and a spring-loaded plunger 3, respectively, the cavity a being connected to plurality of seriesconnected lubricating-oil distributer-valves D through openings 5, 5<SP>1</SP>. The movement of the valve 2 is initially checked by spring-loaded balls 4, 4<SP>1</SP>, which engage with one or other of two pairs of grooves in the body of the valve, whereby oil can be fed to the valves D from a tank T by a pump P through a passage 7, the cavity a and the opening 5 until the pressure in the opening 5<SP>1</SP> reaches a predetermined value sufficient to displace the valve 2 to the left from the position shown in the drawing, said pressure being communicated to the right-hand end of the cavity b through the cavity a and a passage 9. When the valve 2 has been displaced towards the left-hand end of the cavity b, the pressure produced by the pump is communicated to the right-hand end of the cavity a through the passage 7, the cavity b and a passage 10 causing the valve 1 to be displaced to the left from the position shown in the drawing, thereby reversing the flow of oil to the valves D. Oil trapped in the left-hand end of the cavity a is returned to the tank T through a passage 8, the cavity b and a passage 13. To effect compensation for loss of pressure in the passage 9 when the passage 7 is closed or partially closed by displacement of the valve 2, the passage 9 also communicates with one end of the cavity c, which in combination with the plunger 3 serves as an hydraulic accumulator, the opposite end of the cavity c being connected to the tank T by a passage 11, the cavity a and a passage 12. When the pressure in the opening 5 reaches the predetermined value the valves 1, 2 are restored to the positions shown.
