Abstract
Compositions for use in X-ray examination of gall bladders comprise solid concentrates or aqueous solutions or dispersions containing (a) a hexitol, (b) a non-toxic polyethylene glycol ester or ether, and (c) a solid or liquid animal or vegetable edible fat, the proportions by weight of (a), (b), and (c) being:- For 100 parts of a solid concentrate (a) 25-70 (b) 25-70 (c) 1-7 For an aqueous solution of dispersion (per 100 parts of water) (a) 10-70 (b) 2-15 (c) 0.1-1.5 Specified hexitols are sorbitol, mannitol, dulcitol and iditol. Suitable polyethylene glycol ethers and esters are polyethylene glycol sorbitan mono-oleate, -stearate, -palmitate and tri-oleate, polyethylene glycol stearate, polyethylene glycol lauryl ethers, and polyoxyethylene sorbitan esters. Specified fats are peanut, soyabean, cottonseed, castor, linseed, rape-seed, olive, sesame, coconut, palm, anise, and fish oils, cocoa- and coconut-butter. Conventional stabilising, preserving, and flavouring agents may be added to the compositions.
