Abstract
1,061,055. Panelled building structures. B. H. TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENTS Ltd. and BRITISH GEON Ltd. Sept. 2, 1963 [Sept. 13, 1962], No. 34964/62. Heading E1W. In a roof or like structure comprising prefabricated panels, with an outer skin 1, of P.V.C. bent to have sides with flat surfaces, fitted together side-by-side with a sealing strip 4, e.g. of P.V.C. and secured by adhesive, between the adjacent sides, each strip 4 comprises ribs 5 (Fig. 2) which, when it is positioned, spring outward sealingly to contact the flat surfaces. due to inherent resiliency or by being expanded outward by a deforming member. Some side combinations are formed with upward (or outward) opening channels 2 from the sheet 1 fitted with strips 4, one edge portion 5 of which is in each channel 2, having a rib 6 beaded along the free end 6a and forced between the channel sides as shown. In a modification (Fig. 4), a sealing strip 8 has a head 9 to bridge the space between the panels and a stem 10, engaging between the panel sides with a slot 11 fitted with an insert 14 to press the stem parts outward to contact the sides. The corrugated part 3 (Fig. 2) contains cement and asbestos fibres.
