Abstract
1,059,855. Electrical conduit; two-part couplings; distribution arrangements. A. S. VAUSE. July 5; 1965 [May 27, 1964], No. 21832/64. Headings H2C and H2E. In a casing for electric wiring with an outer sheath S containing several conduits C (in the example shown three), each of which holds one or more conductors, the conduits are offset relative to one another in two directions at right angles to one another. Identification of the conductors is then facilitated by the position of the conduits in which they are located. Sections of casing may be joined at any angle by cutting the sheath and conduits so that when the parts are fitted together corresponding conduits are in communication. For example in the branch 2 the conduits containing conductors 7 and 10 and 6 and 9 extend beyond the cut end of the outer sheath and that which carries conductors 5 and 8 is flush with it. In the arrangement of Fig. 4 (not shown) hollow trapezoidal conductors fit trapezoidal conduits. Connector pins with matching ends can be introduced into their interiors through longitudinal slots in the sheath and conduits and turned through 90 degrees to lock in position. The slots may be omitted if the pins are formed with blade-like ends that can cut through the sheath and conduits. The surface of the conduit may be treated with an impact adhesive.
