Abstract
1,058,874. Cold separation of gas mixtures. LINDE A.G. Aug. 24, 1965 [Aug. 28. 1964], No. 36210/65. Heading F4P. In thawing out one or more parts of a low temperature gas mixture, e.g. air separation apparatus including regenerators (1 . . . 4), Fig. 2 (not shown), or reversible heat exchangers for cooling feed gas mixture and condensing high boiling point impurities, e.g. water vapour, as normal operation of the plant is suspended, a portion of the so-purified cold mixture is warmed by being forced by a blower 8 through a water heated exchanger (7) and a steam or electrically heated exchanger (9) prior to being passed through the apparatus to be thawed, e.g. the warm end of regenerators (1 . . . 4). The circulated air forms a closed circuit and the water is removed by a separator (30). Fig. 1 (not shown), discloses a system for thawing out the column (6) and glass wool insulation whilst Fig. 3 (not shown) relates to regenerating a silica gel absorber (5).
