Abstract

1,058,860. Expandable envelopes. TENSION ENVELOPE CORPORATION. Dec. 29, 1964 [Dec. 30, 1963], No. 52677/64. Headings B8K and B8P. An envelope for holding cards comprises a one-piece blank (Fig. 3, not shown) having panels (3, 4) to form the front and back, and side flaps (8, 9) hinged to the portion (3) with gusset-forming folds (12, 13). The marginal edge portions of the side flaps have stripes of adhesive (16) for securing to the panel (4). A lid is hinged to the panel 3 and provided with adhesive (17). In a further embodiment (Figs. 8, 11, not shown) for holding a thicker pile of cards, the side panels connecting the front and back panels (31, 32) have in addition to a median fold (48) (corresponding to the fold (12) in Fig 3) two parallel folds (46, 47), so that when squared the portions (49, 50) of the panel between the folds (46, 47, 48) lie flat against the portion (57) which is glued at (52) to the panel (32). The panels (31, 32) are hinged to a bottom flap by folds (36, 37) the bottom being gusseted with a fold (54).
