Abstract
1,058,833. Laminates and laminating; folding edges of non-metallic sheet material. SINGER COBBLE Ltd. March 1, 1965 [March 2, 1964], No. 8723/64. Headings B5K and B5N. Apparatus for folding the margins of a wider layer of a laminate over the edges of a narrower layer, e.g. for folding the edges of a web of P.V.C. around the edges of plastic board, hardboard or other building panel material, comprises three rollers 17a, 17b, 17c, e.g. of sponge rubber or synthetic foam, adjustably secured by clamps 16a, 16b, 16c to vertical rods 15a, 15b, 15c, themselves adjustably clamped to an arm 11, the arrangement being such that the rollers bear, respectively, on the top surface A, the edge, and the under surface B of the laminated material, the rollers each being set at a slight angle to press the edge of the wider layer smoothly against the narrower. The edges of P.V.C., when this is used, may be pre-softened by radiant heaters. The arm 11 is mounted on a shaft 13 extending across the apparatus and carrying if desired a similar assembly on each side thereof. The roller mountings may contain features permitting adjustment of the rollers to various widths of workpiece.
