Abstract
1,057,711. Container closures. WADDING- TON & DUVAL (HOLDINGS) Ltd. Oct. 31, 1963 [July 31, 1962], No. 29307/62. Heading B8T. A dispensing closure for a container comprises an apertured cap 1 having an outer skirt 2 which snaps over a bead on the container and an inner deeper and thinner skirt 4 which is radially compressed within the container, and a closure member 22 movably retained on the cap for closing the aperture by engagement with a rim 8 surrounding the aperture. A further skirt 6 is provided for pouring purposes and is connected by a wall 10 to an air exit 11 which communicates with an air tube 12. The rim 8 ends in a groove 9 into which the closure 22 may be pressed to provide a liquid tight seal, or the closure may rest out of engagement with the flange and act as a dust cover. The closure member, which may be pivotally mounted on the cap, is disposed within a ring 16 dimensioned to fit the top surface 17 of the cap and is joined to the ring by a diaphragm 21. The entire closure is moulded from polythene.
