Abstract
The invention comprises compounds of the formula <FORM:1056044/C2/1> wherein R1 and R2 taken separately are hydrogen or C1- 8 alkyl, or taken together with the nitrogen atom to which they are attached, constitute a saturated heterocyclic amino radical -NZ of 5 to 7 nuclear atoms, wherein Z is alkylene, oxaalkylene or thiaalkylene, -CnH2nis alkylene having at least two carbon atoms between the valences, n is 2 to 4, Y is hydrogen, chlorine, fluorine, trifluoromethyl, C1- 8 alkoxy or C1- 8 alkoxy and R1 is C1- 8 alkyl or the <FORM:1056044/C2/2> group as defined above; acid addition and quaternary ammonium salts thereof; and a process for their preparation comprising reacting an alkali metal salt of a compound of the formula <FORM:1056044/C2/3> with a C1- 8 alkyl halide or an aminoalkyl halid of the formula <FORM:1056044/C2/4> in which one or both of R3 and R4 is or are benzyl groups, and thereafter removing the benzyl group or groups from the nitrogen atom of the resulting compound. Pharmaceutical compositions, having anti-cholinergic and antihistaminic activity, for oral or parenteral administration, comprise a compound of the invention together with a pharmaceutical carrier.
