In a swivel device with hydraulic drive comprising an annular piston 3 axially movable within a fixed housing 5, a guide piece 4 is attached to the piston 3 and has internal and external teeth of opposite hand which engage correspondingly toothed portions of a shaft 6 and the housing 5. The helix angles and fluid thrust areas are so arranged that unwanted axial forces cancel out.
