Abstract

1,051,109. Firearm butts. COLTS Inc. Oct. 26, 1965 [Oct. 26, 1964], No. 45343/65. Heading F3C. An adjustable length and readily disassembled buttstock 10 comprises a stock portion 12 having a bore 14 in which is rotatably housed a tube 16. A rod member 22 having a radially extending pin 24 secured therein is mounted within the tube 16, the pin 24 extending through a slot provided in the tube, which slot limits relative sliding movement between the rod member and tube. The slot is provided with a plurality of notches with which the pin co-operates to lock the stock portion and tube assembly with respect to the rod member. The pin is moved from the notches into the slot by the rotation of the tube which is effected by a lever 18 secured to the tube and housed with a recess in the stock portion such that the effective length of the buttstock may be increased or decreased. The stock portion may be held against rotation about the rod member by a guide rod 50 co-operating with a passageway 51 in the stock portion.
