Abstract

1,045,608. Air-cushion vehicles. R. DOWNHILL. June 29, 1964 [Nov. 22, 1963], No. 26719/64. Heading B7K. An air-cushion vehicle comprises a circumferential curtain-forming orifice 11 (Figs. 1 and 4, not shown), and three ports each shaped to provide a rounded seating 19 for inverted mushroom-shape valves 25. Each valve is mounted at 32 for universal movement and the valves are inter-connected by rods 34 whereby they may be tilted differentially to provide a directional control effect upon air delivered through the ports by a blower (not shown). Manually-operated control mechanism for the rods 34 is described, and the mountings 32 may be moved vertically to control the clearance between the valves and their seatings.
