Diametrically folding legs 14 are each secured to the corners of the top 10, e.g. of a table, by a U-shape bracket 30 screwed to the leg and pivoted to a U-shape bracket 15, which is screwed to the table top, by a pin 36 extending through both limbs of both brackets, the bracket 15 having extensions 22 screwed to apron parts 24 depending from the top 10 and having spaced parallel end faces between which the top part of the associated leg is a sliding fit. The leg is locked in set-up position, as shown in Fig. 1, by a latch pin 40, carried by a plate 46 and extending through a slot 42 in the bracket 30 and a slot 44 in the bracket 15, the sides of the slots being non-parallel to wedge the pin in a position near the top of the slots to which it is urged by a helical tension spring 52. The plate has a tab 48 (Fig. 5, not shown) extending into a slot 50 in the bracket 30, the ends of the slot providing fulcrums on which the plate 46 moves within the limits of the slot 42 and finger pressure, towards the right in Fig. 1, on a trigger 56 rocks the plate to move the pin 40 downwardly and out of the slot 44 to allow the leg to fold. In folded position of the leg the pin is locked in the notch 62 by the spring 52. The pin passes over cam surfaces 60 and 66 in its movement between set-up and folded positions and rotates freely thereon being a running fit in the plate 46 and having upset parts to prevent axial displacement.
