Abstract
1,043,088. Chimney tops. TRUE FLUE Ltd. March 25, 1965 [May 25, 1964], No. 21589/64. Heading F4J. A flue outlet terminal comprises an annular element 3, surrounding a pipe 1 projecting through a wall 2, said element 3 being formed by a trumpet-shaped part 3A defining a passage of cross-section diminishing upwardly away from the wall and by a disc portion 3B defining a Venturi 7 with a cap 4 above the pipe outlet, said cap being formed by an outer domed surface 5 and a convex disc-like base 6 enclosed at their mutual junction by an annular beading 8. Air moving perpendicularly towards surface 5 flow around cap 4, is deflected by wall 2 around the element 3 and accelerated through the passage away from the wall before flowing radially outwardly under surface 6 with subsequent extraction of flue gases, which is further enhanced by a low pressure zone 9 created by turbulent air flow over beading 8. Air flow parallel to the wall, Fig. 2 (not shown), divides one stream passing over cap 4, the other through Venturi 7, which causes a pressure reduction at the pipe outlet with subsequent flue gas extraction therefrom.
