Abstract

1,042,578. Skein holders. CROON & LUCKE MASCHINENFABRIK G.m.b.H. July 6, 1965 [April 24, 1965], No.28565/65. Heading D1J. A skein winding machine, of the type wherein a skein holder 2 is mounted on a hollow shaft 4 and is expandable through linkages 3 by a rod 7 being axially moved within shaft 4 by electric motor 14, has arm 8 connected to rod 7 and arranged to actuate limit switches 16 or 20 to stop the motor when the working diameter, or the minimum diameter-i.e. for skein removal-of the holder is reached. One or both switches 16, 20 is or are adjustable to vary the respective diameter by one or more screw threads 17. Push buttons 15, 23 are provided to start the motor respectively to expand or contract the holder, while a third button 22 is arranged so that as long as it is depressed the holder contracts to enable a skein tying position to be reached. Motor 14 reciprocates the rod through screw-threaded nut 11 engaging a threaded portion of the rod which is prevented from rotation by arm 8 moving between guides.
