Reservoir pens.-In a retractable stylographic fountain-pen having separate ink openings 33, Fig. 1 (not shown), and a capillary material within the reservoir, as described in parent Specification 986,822, the counterweight 10 for the ink needle 24 is provided with a flexible shock-absorbing element 14 which engages with a connecting bar 15 when the reservoir and writing element are in the retracted position. In so doing, the tapered front portion of the ink needle co-operates with the rear of the nib section to seal-off the writing tube and prevent leakage of ink when the pen is not in use. The reservoir of the pen may be filled by first removing the reservoir and writing element from the pen, applying an aspirator, Fig. 4 (not shown), to the respiratory opening 29 in the side of the reservoir, and withdrawing air from the reservoir whilst the nib section is immersed in ink. The aspirator may be the cap of an ink receptacle. Ink receptacles.-An ink receptacle 32, Fig. 5, is provided with a pump mechanism to force ink into the reservoir of the pen. Entry of the nib section into the receptacle may open a valve member, Fig. 7 (not shown), screwed into the conical seat 31 of the receptacle. Fig. 6 (not shown) illustrates a flexible reservoir which is compressed to force ink into the reservoir. The flexible reservoir may also be supplied with a valve which is opened by inserting the nib of the writing element.
