Abstract

104,075. Webb, F. S. April 18, 1916. Dolls.-The face and head of a doll are made of white kid or "mock kid " leather with hand-modelled features in relief. A piece of buckram that has been soaked in hot water is fashioned over a plaster or other model of the face and head and allowed to dry, after which it is coated with gum, and the kid leather, previously steeped in benzene, applied. The features are fashioned in the leather by hand, and, when dry, heat is applied to melt the wax on the model and enable the mask to be detached. The head is afterwards stuffed with cotton-wool and tinted with oil paint. The hands and feet are also made of kid or mock-kid leather and stuffed with cotton-wool. A framework of copper wire or other flexible metal, Fig. 1, with branches into each finger, thumb, and toe, is embedded in each hand and foot so that each finger &c. is movable at will.
