In boat propulsion means wherein the propeller shaft 10 (Fig. 1, not shown) is rotatably mounted in a member (propeller tube 12 which houses bearings 11 and has a collar 14 secured thereto) which is non-rotatably fixed relative to the boat, a freely rotatable member 16 is mounted on said fixed member and about the propeller shaft in a position adjacent the propeller 13 so that in the event of weeds becoming entangled with the propeller they will also engage around said rotatable member and cause it to rotate with the propeller.
