1,038,135. Tobacco smoke filters. D. T. N. WILLIAMSON and MOLINS ORGANISATION Ltd. May 21, 1963 [May 23, 1962], No. 19760/62. Heading A2C. A method of producing composite mouthpieces, comprises the steps of producing stubs each consisting of a core of material 1 enclosed within a tube 2, displacing the core of such a stub lengthwise of the tube to form a recess at one end of the tube, placing a further stub S<SP>1</SP> in endwise abutment with the tube at the end where it is so recessed, and uniting the two abutted stubs by an encircling uniting band. Two cores 1 may be displaced in opposite direction in the stub 2 and a double length stub S<SP>1</SP> inserted therebetween as shown to form a double filter assembly. The assembly may then be inserted between two cigarette lengths and the whole bisected to form two double filter cigarettes.
