Abstract

1,038,094. Rotary filters. SOC.FIVES LILLI-CAIL. June 5,1963 [June 6, 1962], No. 22361/63. Heading B1D. A filter unit has a plurality of superposed hollow filter elements, each of which comprises a central hub provided with a plurality of longitudinal passages and in which the hubs are stacked upon one another such that the unit is provided with longitudinal pipes communicating with the inside of the elements. As shown in Fig. 1 cones 4 fast with hubs 5 constitute filter elements which are rotatable by any desired mechanical movement (not shown). Each cone 4 is lined internally with a supporting cloth 6 supporting a filter cloth 7 fixed by supports 8 so as to ensure stability and sealing-tightness of the cloth. Formed in hubs 5 are ducts 9 and collectors 10. Sealing elements 11 prevent leakage from adjacent collectors 10. Hubs 5 are mounted on splined shaft 12, the complete group of filtering elements being held in position by clamping device 13. Figs. 3a and 3b are an enlarged view of valve 14 (Fig. 1) which comprises a fixed plate 24 having five openings 25, 26, 27, 28 and 28a and a mobile plate 29 having openings 30 made up of two portions 31, 32 the portions 31 corresponding to openings 25, 26,27 and portions 32 corresponding to openings 28, 28a. Scrapers 15 fitted to the wall of tank 1 remove filter cakes from cones 4. In a modification (not shown) the scrapers are fixed on frusto conical sleeves so as to form partitions between successive filtration zones.
