Abstract

1,037,931. Suspended ceilings. R. RICHTER. Feb. 4, 1964 [Feb. 5, 1963; April 11, 1963], No. 4723/64. Heading E1V. To provide a false plaster ceiling, sheets of mesh 32 are hung on framing members 1 using either I-shaped sheet-metal holders 26 (Fig. 1), together with wire rods 34 passing through holes in the lower flanges of the holders, or sheet metal strips 46 (Fig. 7) looped over the framing members at one end and gripped in the members at the other end by means of notches in the sides of the upstanding portions of the strips. Plaster 35 is applied to the mesh 32 to form the finished ceiling. Hangers 6 with longitudinal grooves 7 support the framing members 1 via beads 4 and 5, a slotted plate 11 retaining the hanger vertically. Vertical adjustment is controlled by a spring 16 (Fig. 4) which can be released from the slidable rod 18 to allow it to be moved. Replacing the holes in the lower flange of the holder 26 may be a flat plate 56 (Fig. 9) which supports the rods 34 in grooves. The holder 26 may otherwise be twisted through 90 degrees so that the lower flange is parallel to the associated framing member 1, and the rods carried thereby extend perpendicular to the framing member.
