A lintel comprises a member 11 of Z crosssection and a channel or angle member 17, the top of the members being together and the lower parts of the webs 14, 18 separated, the respective flanges 12, 19 being directed away from each other. The flange 20 of the channel or the top edge of the angle member may be welded to the flange 16 of the member 11. The lower parts of the members may be bridged by channels.
