Abstract

[Also in Division B5] In apparatus for moulding bituminous material into sheet form the material is fed from calender rolls to a cutting and trimming table between a pair of endless conveyer belts, each belt surface coming into contact with the material comprises a fluorocarbon resin, e.g. polytetrafluoroethylene, a fluorosilicone elastomer, a silicone elastomer which is resistant to high temperature or a nitrile-silicone elastomer. The surface layer or the whole of each belt may be made of glass cloth or polyamide or polyester fibres coated or impregnated with polytetrafluoroethylene. Alternatively each belt may comprise a flexible band of stainless steel to a surface of which is bonded a layer or film of a fluorocarbon resin or one of the silicone elastomers specified above.
