Abstract
The invention resides in the use as an emulsifying agent of organopolysiloxanes <FORM:1036083/C3/1> wherein at least one R is H and one is a CH(OH)-CH2-O-P radical linked via C-Si with the remainder being alkyl or aryl, P is derived from a polyether POH, R1 is the same as R or OH, and n is an integer less than 1000. Such compounds are described and claimed in Specification 1,036,082. The polyether may be polyethylene oxide or a copolymer of at least 60% ethylene oxide with propylene, isobutylene or styrene oxide, 1,2-epoxybutene, tetrahydrofuran, glycidyl methacrylate or crotonate, alkyl or vinylphenyl glycide ether, butadiene or divinylbenzene monoxide, or chloroprenoxide. In examples they are used to emulsify dihydroxy- or di(trimethylsiloxy) - terminated polydimethyl siloxanes.ALSO:Water-repellant impregnant for fibres of wool, cotton, leather, polyesters or polyurethanes are emulsions wherein the emulsifying agent is an organopolysiloxane <FORM:1036083/D1-D2/1> wherein at least one R is H and one a radical linked via C-Si terminating in CH(OH)-CH2-O-P where-O-P is derived from a polyether H-O-P, the remainder being alkyl or aryl; R1 is the same as R or OH; and n is an integer below 1000 (see Division C3).
