Abstract

1,033,210. Stud and socket fastenings; latch fastenings. F. T. PRODUCTS Ltd. Dec. 1, 1964 [Dec. 10, 1963], No. 48774/63. Headings E2A and E2B. A resilient fastener for releasably attaching two members together is formed from a single strip of material so as to comprise a substantially flat tail portion adapted to engage one of the members 21 and an integral head portion 11 a major part of which is substantially flat and aligned with the tail portion, the head portion having a resilient tongue 16 sheared and bent therefrom so as to project away from the tail portion and the tongue being resiliently displaceable relative to the head portion and having a transverse step 19 intermediate its length adapted to engage over an abutment formed on the other member 22. As shown the tail portion engages an undercut groove in the member 21 and it is retained in the groove by prongs 18 formed from the bent over corners of tongues 17 formed by shearing from the tail portion. Two fasteners are used to secure the two members together. The members can be channel shaped or box-like members. Release of the tongue from the abutment is achieved by providing the member 22 with holes 28 so positioned that a tool inserted through the hole can disengage the step from the abutment.
