Abstract

1,032,210. Friction clutches. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Dec. 18, 1964 [Dec. 18, 1963], No. 49984/63. Heading F2C. A centrifugal friction clutch, especially for a spin dryer, comprises a backing-plate 3a engageable through a pressure-plate 13 by the outward movement of balls 11 between the plate 13 and a concave input disc 8 formed with radial pockets 10 for the balls. The pockets have hardened steel lining strips 12, and clips 8 located in slots 10a at the inner ends of the pockets serve as driving members for the plate 13, their outer ends 15a being bent over to limit axial movement of the plate 13 as the result of wear of the friction element 2.
