Abstract
1,031,822. Embossing surfaces. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. April 30, 1963 [May 10, 1962], No. 18012/62. Heading B6C. A process for manufacturing an embossing surface comprises a first stage of making a preliminary grained embossing surface by mechanical or chemical means and a second stage during which a layer of non-metallic material is applied to the surface to a thickness such as to cause a reduction of the depth and a rounding out of the contours of the grain. The non-metallic material may be an organopolysiloxane which may be cured at room temperatures or polytetrafluoroethylene-cured by air-drying at 90‹ C. and baking at 400‹ C.-which may be applied by spraying, e.g. electrostatic spraying, brushing or dip-coating.
