Abstract
1,031,679. Bearings; lubricating; locking nuts. F. GHIAZZA. April 14, 1964 [Dec. 12, 1963], No. 15368/64. Headings F2A and F2H. [Also in Division B2] The lower end of the shaft of a gyratory crusher and associated bearings are immersed in oil in a sump formed by a driving pulley 20, Fig. 3, secured to an oil pan 21, the sump being separated into two parts by a disc 19, openings in a ring 23 and by a seal 26, the arrangement being such that an overpressure is created at the exit of rotary tubes 27 causing oil to rise between bushing 18 and the shaft and, via holes 28, between the bushing and a fixed sleeve 22. Oil is returned through holes 30 to the inside of the pulley 20. The oil pan is provided with cooling and ventilation fins 29. In a modification, Fig. 4 (not shown), the fixed sleeve has secured thereto conduits communicating with a conduit rotatable with the oil pan. Ring 47, Fig. 5, is secured to shaft 46 by means of springs 56 urging a washer 50 against the ring and pretensioned by means of screws 51 carried in a nut 49 screwable on an extension of the shaft. In a modification, Fig. 6 (not shown), the springs are replaced by a single spring.
