Abstract

1,030,434. Door chains &c. S. GREENMAN Ltd. Feb. 18, 1964 [Feb. 20, 1963], No. 6832/63. Heading E2A. A device for retaining the door against opening movement beyond a certain position comprises two inter-engageablep arts, one of which is a bifucated arm 1 which is rotatably mounted on a door surround B, the other part being a finger piece 6 secured to the door C having a headed finger 8 which engages between the bifurcated arms and traverses them when the door is opened. The distance between the arms is narrow enough to prevent the finger head 8 from passing therethrough except in the locality A of the arm mounting. The finger head is held imprisoned behind the arm as the door is opened and the length of the bifurcation will prescribe the extent of the door movement, the finger head only being releasable in the closed position of the door. The arm 1 is mounted by pivots 3 to lugs 4 on a base plate 5 attached to the door surround B. The finger 6 is cranked to form an outer portion spaced from but parallel to a base plate 7.
