Abstract
1,030,078. Capacitors. SIEMENS & HALSKE A.G. Nov. 27, 1964 [Nov. 29, 1963], No. 48242/64. Heading H1M. In a method of manufacturing a capacitor strip a strip 1 of fibrous material is impregnated with a hydrocarbon 2, the surface is smoothed, and a layer of varnish 3 is deposited on it followed by a metal layer 4, e.g. aluminium, deposited on the latter. The hydrocarbon impregnant 2 consists of a high melting point material, e.g. paraffin wax, hard resins, polyethylene or a mixture of these substances having a melting point of at least 80� C. and the strip 1 may be of paper. The mechanical smoothing may be achieved by passing the impregnated strip over heated rollers and a further varnish layer may be laid over the metal layer 4. A plurality of such strips may be rolled together into a capacitor.
