Abstract

1,027,031. Heat exchange elements. GARRET CORPORATION. Jan. 22, 1963, No. 2786/63. Heading F4S. A condenser tube comprises an outer tube 6 with an inlet and outlet and an inner hollow perforated core 13 closed at both ends and continuously tapered from end to end to provide between the tube and core an annular passage decreasing in cross-section from inlet to outlet. A spiral vane 12 is located in the annular passage. When several tubes 6 are connected between inlet and outlet headers 1, 4, each is formed from semi-cylindrical portions 5, 6, portions of adjacent tubes being spaced by integral plates 7, 8 which serve as heat transfer fins.
