A pipe 2 passing through masonry is held in place by an elastic ring 4 of rubber or plastics material which, by the aid of end rings 5 and screws 6 is spread radially into contact with a masonry protecting tube 1. The ring may be disposed at the house end of the tube 1, the other end being supported either by a similar ring or by a winding 8 of twisted fibre.
