Abstract
1,026,184. Printing-apparatus. INTERNATIONAL PRINTING TRUST. Jan. 31, 1963 [Feb. 1, 1962], No. 4080/63. Heading B6C. A make-ready sheet is produced by imprinting a sticky coating on an underlay sheet, covering the coating with a powder, such as sand, which is solid at room temperature but which is fluent, and fixing the relief image thus obtained, the powder being applied to the coating by drawing the underlay through a heap of the powder. An underlay 6 is fixed to a roller 2 by means of a rod drawn into a groove 7 by a spring and the roller is rotated by a handle 5 to draw the freshly imprinted underlay through the sand 4 which is provided with a continuous distribution of grain sizes. The powder may be any suitable mineral or synthetic plastic powder. Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown), depict other embodiments of the apparatus and include means for passing the underlay subsequently through resin powder which is later heated to fix the relief image. The container may include a mixing device 8.
