Abstract

The invention comprises compounds of formula <FORM:1026159/C2/1> wherein the symbols denote optionally substituted aromatic (Ar), aliphatic (R, R1) or cycloaliphatic (R1) radicals and a method of making them by reacting together in a solvent the appropriate precursors ArSO2N = CRCl and MSC(=S)OR1, M being an alkali metal. In specified compounds, R1 is Et and (1) Ar = Ph, R = Me, (2) Ar = p-tolyl, R = Me, (3) Ar = m-nitrophenyl, R = Me, (4) Ar = p-chlorophenyl, R = Me, (5) Ar = Ph, R = ClCH2, (6) Ar = Ph, R = Et.ALSO:Compounds used for combating water weeds have the formula <FORM:1026159/A5-A6/1> wherein the symbols denote optionally substituted aromatic (Ar), aliphatic (R, R1) or cycloaliphatic (R1) radicals. They may be used alone or as compositions such as emulsifiable concentrates, spray powders, pastes, soluble powders, dusting agents and granulates; a list of suitable adjurants is given.
