Abstract
1,025,673. Electrode materials and processing. PATENT - TREUHAND - GESELLSCHAFT FUR ELEKTRISCHE GLUHLAMPEN m.b.H. Nov. 7, 1962 [Nov. 10, 1961], No. 42079/62. Heading H1D. An anode for a high pressure discharge lamp is made of tungsten hammered to increase its density and has annular cooling grooves, e.g. 1 to 3 mm. deep and whose lateral edges form angles of about 90 degrees, and the grooved anode surface has a layer of sintered material to increase radiation. The layer may be of tungsten powder, or tantalum carbide possibly mixed with nickel or tungsten powder, and may be applied in suspension in butyl acetate with 5% cellulose binder, and subsequently sintered at about 2000‹ C. The lamp may contain xenon, and the tantalum carbide may act as a getter.
