Abstract

1,022,336. Junction boxes. BURNDY CORPORATION. Sept. 8, 1964 [June 12, 1964] No. 36734/64. Heading H2E. An insulating box for surrounding an electrical connection comprises a pair of mating half-sections adapted to be locked together, each half-section having a side wall and a pair of end walls, each end wall having a substantially linear edge portion to co-operate with the corresponding portion of the other section when they are locked together, and further having a plurality of closely spaced flexible strip portions 18 each attached at one end to said side wall and terminating in a free end forming part of said linear edge. The two half-sections 10 and 12 are hinged together at 14 and are guided into the mated position by interengagement of two camming surfaces, and when in the mated position are locked by a latch engaging behind an internal shoulder. The flexible strip portions 18 may be formed separately and moulded in place, formed by cutting parallel transverse slits in an otherwise continuous flexible wall or integrally joined together by a deformable membrane which may be a weakened or thin wall portion.
