1,018,835. Travelling-wave tubes; cathoderay tubes. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. March 26. 1964 [March 29, 1963], No. 12847/64. Heading H1D. A delay line in the form of helically wound conductor 1 for use in travelling-wave tubes or as a deflection system in a very high frequency oscillograph tube has at least one metal support rod connected orthogonally to the outer surface of each turn of the delay line, the end of each rod remote from the delay line being secured in an insulating member. The conductor consists of a core of stainless steel with a surface cover of copper, silver or gold, and is preferably tape-shaped. The insulating members preferably consist of ceramic rods provided with a longitudinal groove in which glass is provided, the metal supporting rods being sealed in the glass.
