Abstract
1,018,615. Circuits employing bi-stable magnetic elements. PLESSEY CO. Ltd. June 29, 1962 [March 30, 1961], No. 11806/61. Heading H3B. A magnetic logical device which may be used as an AND gate comprises at least two multi-aperture cores A 1 , A 2 having their output windings 9 connected in series, but in opposite sense, with that of a further core EA and the input winding 7 of an output core B. The input winding of core EA is arranged so that the core is set to the " 1 " state when core B is cleared, and its clearing winding (not shown) is connected in series with those of cores A 1 to A n . The output windings of cores A 1 to An have twice as many turns as the input windings to allow for losses and the output winding of core EA has 2(n - 1) times as many turns as the input windings. Thus only if all the cores A 1 to An are in the " primed 1 " condition is the core B switched to the " 1 " position on clearing cores A 1 to An and EA. The various states " 0," " 1 " and " primed 1 " of the cores are also described in Specification 1,018,614.
