Abstract
1,018,123. Cathode-ray tubes. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. Feb. 15, 1963 [Feb. 20, 1962], No. 6248/63. Heading HID. At least two cylindrical electrostatic focusing electrodes 8, 9, 10 of an electron gun are located relative to each other by three or more rodshaped insulating members 14 positioned between overlapping parts of the electrodes. The electrodes are reduced in thickness in the region of overlap 13 and the members may or may not be cemented in position. The end faces of the members are provided with grooves 15, e.g. simple slots or grooves in the form of a cross, to improve insulation. The electrodes 9, 10 are held against the tube neck by springs 16, 17. Further insulating members 14 may be provided between the control electrode 7 and the electrode 8. In the shown arrangement six members 14 are provided, equally spaced, at each end of the electrode 9. The supply conductors for the electrodes 9 and 10 are taken inside glass tubes along the electron gun.
