Abstract
1,016,264. Masts. F. F. L. WILSON. Jan. 7, 1964 [Jan. 7, 1963], No. 690/63. Heading E1B. A mast comprises telescoping sections 1, 2, 3, 4 provided with means to prevent their relative rotation, each section having an associated reeve of a cable and pulley erecting system, the reeves associated with the sections 3, 4 each having their cable ends anchored to a flange 15 on the next but one section below, and each reeve lying in a plane at an angle to that of the reeve next below. As shown, each mast section is raised by the raising of the lowest moving section 2 using a winch 9. Relative rotation of the sections is prevented by keys 8 on the lower end of each movable section engaging slots or guide channels in the adjacent sections. Alternatively the lower end of each movable section is formed with a keyway and the adjacent mast section is formed with a key.
