Abstract

1,014,123. Gas/liquid contact columns. W. KITTEL. April 18, 1963 [April 25, 1962], No. 15397/63. Heading B1R. A gas/liquid contact column has a central tube 9 and slotted plates such as 2 and 3 arranged in pairs and with their slots oppositely inclined, liquid being discharged from the plate 2 through an annular downcorner 7 and from the plate 3 by an annular downcorner 8. Liquid may be supplied to the uppermost plate through the tube 9. Alternatively the pipe 9 may be used to discharge gas from the column, gas leaving the uppermost plate passing through a bed of packing material and entering the upper end of the pipe.
