Abstract

1,048,876. Gas-scrubbers. METALLGESELLSCHAFT A.G. Feb. 6, 1964 [Feb. 9, 1963 (3)], No. 5144/64. Heading B1R. The cross-sectional area of the throat of a Venturi Scrubber of circular cross-section is variable in such a manner that the cross-section is always substantially circular. As shown in Fig. 1 the throat of a Venturi Scrubber 1 has a cylindrical membrane attached at its upper and lower ends tothe walls of the Venturi and distensible by the introduction through line 5 of a pressure fluid. In modifications (Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown)) the cross sectional area is adjustable by means of a series of movable elements.
