Abstract

Cores or moulds are prepared by firing a shape formed from 30-70% titanium oxide and 70-30% of one or more oxides or precursors thereof, e.g. carbonates of calcium, barium, strontium, magnesium or aluminium. Other refractory materials forming 1-95% of the total weight of the mixture may also be present, e.g. zirconia, silica, magnesia, malochite, sillimanite or ground siliceous or aluminium porcelain. A wax or resin temporary binder may also be added.
