A pad applicator, which may be used for applying a cleaning powder to suede leather, has an apertured diaphragm 12 spaced from the rear of a sponge applicator pad 8. The pad 8 is secured round its edge by adhesive to annular part 13 and the diaphragm ensures that the powder in contact with the rear adhesive-free face of the pad is in a fluent state. One-piece moulded synthetic resin container 5 may have a removable cap 6 or the cap may be secured by adhesive.
