Abstract

1,010,730. Paper-making apparatus. H. E. B. SCOTT. July 30, 1964 [Aug. 20, 1963], No. 32965/63. Heading D2A. A doctor for doctoring a roll of a paper-making machine comprises a support 11 for the doctor blade 14, a suction duct 10 extending the length of the blade, a plurality of contiguous suction nozzle 19 extending from the duct to the tip of the blade, the nozzle providing a continuous wall 18, and plates 29 removably accommodated in slots in the nozzles, the plates having graded orifices 30 which provide uniformity of suction through the nozzles. The orifices in the various plates preferably have a common tangent at a point 32 at the bottom of orifice 17 of tube 10. The suction orifices 21 are separated by tips 28 which may contain blowing nozzles 41 Fig. 10-13 (not shown) connected to an air duct in wall 18 which are periodically actuated, either manually or automatically, to dislodge any fibres caught on the tips.
