As shown, a regulator for a substation circuit, to compensate for varying line current and differing microphone impedances, comprises a non-linear resistor NW connected in parallel with the winding W1 of the hybrid transformer U. The non-linear resistor NW comprises two diodes D1, D2 in parallel with opposite polarities connected in series with a linear resistor R.
