Abstract
1,009,836. Cleaning spinning frames. LUWA A. G. May 8,1962 [May 9, 1961], No. 17686/62. Headings D1D and D1F. A method of cleaning spindles on ring spinning frames comprises confining radially of the spindle axis the air flow produced by the rotation of the balloon, spindle, and cop, to provide (without the addition of an auxiliary forced flow of air) a controlled flow of air to carry away lint, dust and dirt. A sleeve 6 (Fig. 1) surrounds the thread balloon and at least part of the cop. Air is drawn in at an orifice 7 and dust laden air is expelled at the bottom 5 of the sleeve, or at the side of the sleeve optionally into a duct (Fig. 11) to which the sleeves of a series of spindles are linked and which may open into a wider portion 41 which may be covered by a screen 42. The sleeve may have an additional intake orifice at the side, or perhaps at the bottom with the air expelled at the side of the middle portion 37, Fig. 10 (not shown). The sleeve may be circular or rectangular in crosssection and may have a dome shaped or tapered top. Balloon rings 13, 14 may be attached to the sleeve or alternatively the inside of the sleeve may be formed with fins 35 Fig. 9 (not shown) preferably extending in a helix. An extension of the sleeve which is variable in length and is formed of steel strip windings, may be situated between the spindle and ring frames. So that a retied thread can be re-inserted into the sleeve a slot with a flap 25, Fig. 6 (not shown), or tags 28, Fig. 7 (not shown) and either inclined or parallel to the axis of the sleeve, is formed in the sleeve. Alternatively the sleeve may be into two halves, Fig. 14 (not shown), pivoted at their lower ends or hinged along a longitudinal edge. The spinning ring may be connected to a ring frame carrier (Fig. 14) through a slot in the sleeve. The air conveyed through the sleeves may be used to clean other machine components, particularly if a system of conveying blowers are used.
