A clothes airer including U-shaped frames 10, 11 pivoted together at 14 is held in the erect position by a toggle linkage at each end comprising unequal stays 13, 15 pivoted together and one to each frame, the longer stay having a U-portion which can seat over a transverse portion forming the pivotal connection of the shorter stay.
