Abstract

1,008,747. Toy vehicles. ACME INDUSTRIAL CO Ltd. June 24, 1964, No. 26163/64. Heading A6S. A battery propelled toy vehicle has both drive and power steering remotely controlled by a flexible cable carrying the conductors the power steering being connected through worm drive gearing. The embodiment shows a vehicle 20 controlled from a combined switch and battery box 28 through a flexible cable carrying conductors 29, 30 to a reversible propulsion motor 1 and conductors 31, 32 to a reversible steering motor 2. The motor 2 drives, through gears freely mounted on shafts 8, 12, a toothed gradiant 13 secured to shaft 8, on which is also secured an arm 15 having a pin 23 moving a track rod 21. A tension spring 27 tends to restore the track rod 21 to a central position so that when the quadriant reaches its last tooth it is still held back in contact with its drive sprocket 11 until the steering motor 2 is reversed by pressing one or other of buttons 34, 35 on the control panel of the combined switch and battery box 28.
